Aikin Residence
The owners of a 52 acre parcel in rural Nevada approached Magnin Architecture to design their lifetime home for their growing family. As a family of athletes, they wanted to incorporate a state-of-the-art gym and lap pool for training at home. They also requested a garage for their RV’s and other sporting equipment.
The design of the main residence prioritizes an open concept feel with views of the mountains to the west. Without neighbors in close proximity, the design encourages time spent outdoors with expansive terraces and a large courtyard. To emulate an indoor/outdoor feel, the kitchen and living room are enclosed by sliding glass doors that open completely to the terraces beyond.
The second structure includes the gym, indoor lap pool, and a garage for their larger vehicles and toys. Expanses of sliding glass doors on either side of the pool make for a luxurious place to lounge and swim in the summer months, while allowing for comfortable indoor conditions for training in the winter months.
