AMOS
IN CONSTRUCTION
A home set in the foothills of the Mt Rose wilderness in Reno Nevada. It is in a transitional zone from the high desert to the Carson Range - which is an open high desert landscape with pines in the higher elevations beyond.
The home was designed for a family of 4 to be their primary residence - in their move from Texas and as both of their children transition into college.
The design was driven by the high desert landscape, to be a low form, low roof slope profile to integrate into the natural landscape. The parcel has dramatic views to the North/North west and East - to the Virginia range, and large protected expanses of glass were designed to maximize the views from both the primary living areas and primary bed which are in parallel wings of the home.
A natural material palate was used as part of the design review required in the area - a simple vertical gray stained wood, board formed concrete, horizontal stone, and dark bronze metals which tie into the natural landscape.
