Scharr Residence

This project started as a request to provide a detached 2 car garage for a small modernist residence on a hillside parcel in Reno, Nevada. The parcel has dramatic views of downtown Reno and was recently annexed into the city of Reno from Washoe County. Due to limiting factors such as septic layout requirements (leach field and repair areas), easements, and site constraints, we revisited the program to provide an attached underground 2 car garage that enters on the north side of the home where the parcel has a steep slope down to the road. Atop the garage is a great room addition (living, kitchen, dining), and a master suite which captures the stunning views of downtown Reno.
